Podcast trend is certainly on the rise. Now more people are looking up workshops and listening to talks on the internet than ever before and with this free opportunity to self-educate we will soon run out of excuses for ignorance.

Our first post on TED talks for women  was super popular and was shared over and over again, so the TFH team decided to make this a permanent feature on the blog. And in today’s’ post we’re going to talk about sex.

Enjoy and feel inspired!

1. Paul Bloom: the orgins of pleasure

Let’s look at pleasure from the perspective of physiology and, more precisely, mental functioning principles. Psychologist Paul Bloom describes how our perception (and also pleasure) changes under the influence of our experience.

2. Al Vernacchio: sex needs a new metaphor.Here’s one…

Sexuality educator Al Vernacchio was on target when said that the metaphors for talking about sex in the US all come from baseball — scoring, getting to first base, etc. But sex isn’t a game: there’s no teams, no winners and no losers. And he suggests a new metaphor… And guess what? 🙂

3. Mechai Viravaidya: how Mr. Condom made Thailand a better place for life and love

Many of us are afraid to talk about contraception. But it’s incredibly important! So watch this funny video, and I hope it inspires you to talk about this more easy.

4. Elizabeth Pisani: sex, drugs and HIV — let’s get rational

Writer Elizabeth Pisani discourses if only human irrationality leads to HIV. We can’t walk on by this hot-button issue and this video.

5. Shereen El Feki: a little-told tale of sex and sensuality

According to Arab sexuality expert Shereen El Feki, if you really want to know a people, start by looking inside their bedrooms. She traveled through the Middle East for five years, talking to people about sex and also discovered that sexual conservatism in the Arab world is a relatively new thing.

6. Julia Sweeney: it’s time for “the talk”

Many parents are horrified by children’s innocent questions “about it”. How to overcome it? Go watch this video!

7. Mary Roach: 10 things you didn’t know about orgasm

I want to complete this TEDs list with a video about… of course, orgasm 🙂 Writer Mary Roach tells us 10 intriguing thongs about it that you may not know! And who knows how your evening ends after watching this video 🙂

Bonus. Aspen Baker: a better way to talk about abortion

In America, for example, one in three women will have an abortion in their lifetime, yet the strong emotions sparked by the topic — and the highly politicized rhetoric around it — leave little room for thoughtful, open debate. In this personal, thoughtful talk, Aspen Baker makes the case for being neither “pro-life” nor “pro-choice” but rather “pro-voice” — and for the roles that listening and storytelling can play when it comes to discussing difficult topics.

I hope that today you have learned something new, inspiring and useful for you sex life! May be you want to add something? We are happy when you post your comments below the posts. Feel free to do it 🙂

And if you liked this post you may also want to watch a previous TEDs FOR WOMEN plylist (in case you’ve missed it) and to know HOW TO BECOME A BEST SEX FRIEND.
